The female super featherweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Eva Wahlstrom will defend her title on August 2 against Mexican Yareli “Chololita” Larios, daughter of former world champion Oscar “Chololo” Larios, in the Thomas & Mack Center of Las Vegas.
Eva won the WBC crown in 2015 by defeating Argentina’s Natalia Vanesa del Valle. Since then, she has defended the crown four times.
Larios, will fight for the first time outside of Mexico, and is extra motivated to dispute the green and gold title of the WBC, as it`s the same belt her father fought for.
Oscar Larios, from Guadalajara, Mexico, won the WBC super-bantamweight belt on his second attempt in 2002 with a stoppage win over champion Wille Jorrin at the Arco Arena in Sacremento. The pair had met 20 months before with Jorrin winning by UD.
He defended the belt on six occasions, notably twice against Briton boxer Wayne McCullough in 2005.
After conceding his WBC belt in December 2005 to Israel Vazquez, he went on to share the ring with Manny Pacquiao; Jorge Linares; and Takahiro Ao.
He finished his 15-year professional career with 63 victories, even losses and one draw.
