Sampson Boxing announced the extension of the promotional contract with the Dominican fighter Javier “El Abejón” Fortuna.
Fortuna (35-2-1, 24 KOs) has fought under the Sampson Boxing banner since his professional debut and has had one of the best careers in Dominican boxing history.
Currently, the 31-year-old “Abejon” is the #1 world lightweight contender for the World Boxing Council. He's expected to face Britain's Luke Campbell at the end of the pandemic for the WBC Interim Lightweight Championship. The winner of this match must face champion Devin Haney.
“If I died and was born once more, I would sign with Sampson all over again. I will soon become champion and I have to thank my promoter Sampson for all the opportunities he has given me in my career,” enthused Fortuna.
“I have been working with Javier Fortuna since his professional debut and it has always been a pleasure. He will soon have the Green and Gold Belt and I could not be happier and more proud of all his success. My fighters are like children for me. I laugh and cry with them through thick and thin,” said Sampson Lewkowicz.
